Our crews consistently train to remain proficient. On the left, providers are using a simulated patient to practice trauma assessment. On the right, providers are practicing basic airway management skills.
North County Regional Fire Authority provides Emergency Medical Services as part of Snohomish County’s tiered response system. We deliver both Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) care, including on-scene treatment and transport to regional hospitals. Each day we staff four to five BLS units and three ALS units.
Lower-acuity calls are typically managed by our BLS providers (EMTs), while higher-acuity calls are handled by our ALS providers (paramedics). We emphasize strong BLS care as the foundation of every response, with ALS added when needed. This tiered model keeps paramedics consistently engaged in high-acuity incidents, maintaining clinical proficiency and ensuring high-quality care.
Additionally, we work closely with neighboring fire departments and EMS partners to ensure our community receives the right level of response as quickly as possible.
Our paramedic units are located at Station 48 in Smokey Point, Station 46 in downtown Arlington, and Station 99 serving the Stanwood area, providing reliable ALS coverage across the district.
All crews participate in regular simulation-based drills and ALS providers meet monthly to review recent calls. We are also active at the county and regional levels of EMS ensuring that your EMT's and Paramedics are well prepared. This focus on continuous improvement is a core part of how we approach EMS and essential to our EMS program.
Our goal is simple. Provide fast, consistent, patient-centered EMS care to the residents and visitors of North Snohomish County.
